This project was a fun one with a huge history of "development"! I have been trying to prototype Sanae's theme ever since May of 2021 (it is now October 2022), but went into many unfruitful ends. I think I had about 3-4 prototypes of significantly different styles, chord progressions, and "genre" altogether, and finally settled on this because it is a fresh arrangement with a twist (a dash of western folk style) as opposed to her theme being associated to traditional eastern Gensokyo elements. Since this is "Faith is for the Transient People", I wanted to make it sound magical, almost ritualistic, like the theme for a secret organization located in an European setting (think people speaking in Latin, working on conjured magics, candles, cold climate, hooded heroines and stuff). Finally, it is a perfect opportunity to think up of a new design for Sanae - using her primary colors - white, blue, and green for a new set of costume :) I hope you like this arrangement and her design in the video! It was very fun just imagining her new clothes and making an arrangement that goes with her design.

Because of the setting, I included lots of elements such as candles, fire, sparkles, faint light in a city (not modern city), mountain nights, blizzard - to illustrate the story and the chronicles of Sanae. I hoped to actually draw the storyboard, but alas, it was a monumental task for me now that I'm starting to draw a bit better, so I will be crushed by my own high hopes.

This is my first video where, in Bit2's entire history, there are multiple drawings (not in chibi style). The first one is actually an older drawing (never appeared in any videos but used as a thumbnail for one of the videos now) when I was practicing drawing in a newer style. The other two in the video are the most recent drawings, and it was one of my self-imposed challenge to make sure both of them correlate well, and consistent in style. I really enjoyed making her hooded design - it paints her as a noble, charitable heroine helping the weak, yet shrouded in mystery, which strengthens her identity as a deified human with a strong sense of righteousness.
